Richard Wayne Glendening, age 76, of Fremont, Indiana, passed away on Monday, December 24, 2018 at his residence. Richard was born on September 22, 1942 in Hicksville, Ohio. He worked for Eagle Picher in Ashley, Indiana, Meridian Automotive in Angola, Indiana, and also had worked on various construction jobs. He served in the United States Air Force, and was a Past Commander of the Jack Brinker American Legion Post # 409 in Leo, Indiana, and was a member and Past Commander of the Fremont American Legion Cassel Post # 257, in Fremont, Indiana. He enjoyed fishing, coin collecting, and spending time with his family. Survivors include a daughter, Teresa (Eddie) Helton of Morristown, Tennessee, a son, Scott (Carla) Glendening of Fremont, Indiana, grandchildren, Amanda Helton, Caroline Helton, Kelsey Glendening Smoker, and Khloe Glendening, great-grandchildren, Audriana Raines, Aries Woodard, and Owen Smoker, a brother, Ebon R. Carper, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everret Wayne Glendening and Hilda L. (Shears) Glendening Carper, and a sister, Dorothy L. Glendening Blech. Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana, with Rev. Darin Hendrey officiating. Calling hours will be held prior to the services from 12:00 noon until 2 pm Saturday at Beams Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services at Leo Cemetery, Leo, Indiana, with military honors. Memorial donations in his honor are requested to the Fremont American Legion Cassel Post # 257.
