Janet Kaye Deaton

Janet Kaye Deaton, 65, of Bainbridge, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 with family by her side. She was born September 16, 1952 in Greencastle, the daughter of Charles and Doris (Ragsdale) Lyon and was a graduate of North Putnam High School “Class of 1970”. She had attended the Bainbridge United Methodist Church. Janet had served as the Putnam County Treasurer for eight years, retiring in 2010. She had previously worked in the Putnam County Auditor’s office , AUL, and over 17 years with American States Insurance offices. She was preceded in death by her parents. Janet is survived by her husband, Dennis L. Deaton; a daughter, Brandee (husband, Darin) Jackson, a brother, Chuck Lyons; and four grandchildren, Jarett, Jayce, Jalee, and Jaetyn Jackson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Brick Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 31st at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Janet to the American Cancer Society.
