Mr. Jack Doil Kerns, 81, a lifelong resident, of the Clover Hill and Harrisonburg areas, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the Farmville Rehabilitation & Health Care in Farmville, VA.
A son of the late L. Doil and Madeline Grim Kerns, he was born on August 21, 1935 in Dayton, VA.
Jack attended Treveca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN and Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg. He was a licensed minister in the Church of the Nazarene, having served as past minister at the Timberville Church of the Nazarene and supply ministry in various Churches of the Nazarene throughout the state of Virginia. He also did sales work.
He is survived by two brothers, Dr. Wilmer L. Kerns, of Arlington, VA, and Dennis W. Kerns, of Midlothian, VA; and one sister, Jane Kerns McKeel, of Virginia Beach, VA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Sid F. Kerns.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday morning, March 23, 2017, at 11:00 am at the Clover Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jay Ahlemann officiating.
The casket will be closed and there will be no formal visitation.
Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to the Clover Hill United Methodist Church, 3169 Clover Hill Road, Dayton, VA 22821, in his memory.
