Steven Scott Starick, 54, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 10, 2017. He was born on May 5, 1963 in Pontiac, Michigan and was the son of Mrs. Jean Starick of Keego Harbor, Michigan and the late Terry Starick. Steve graduated from West Bloomfield High School in Michigan and the ITT Technical Institute in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He worked as a draftsman at Kawneer in Harrisonburg for 18 years and at James Madison University in Facilities Management for the last 15 years. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks #450, where he served as Exalted Ruler and trustee, the Rockingham Union Lodge #27 A. F. & A. M. of Harrisonburg, the Valley Shrine Club of Harrisonburg, the proud American Riders, and St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kathy Starick; two daughters, Pamela Smith and husband, Jamie, of Ft. Defiance, and Lacy Stajduhar and husband, Eric, of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Linkin and Gavin Smith and Jaxon and Crosby Stajduhar; one brother, Jeff Starick and wife, Vonda, of Waterford, MI; one sister, Becky Starick of Flint, MI; and his mother-in-law, Loretta Frantz of Harrisonburg. Steve was preceded in death by his father, and his father-in-law, Kenneth Frantz. The family will receive friends at the residence at any time. Honoring Steve’s wishes he will be cremated and a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks #450, 482 South Main Street, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
