Douglas Hugh Syrus

Douglas Syrus, 71, of Indianapolis and Greenwood, died unexpectedly September 20, 2021. He was born June 13, 1950 in Indianapolis the son of Harold and Martha Jane (Suesz) Syrus. Douglas graduated from Southport High School, served in the U.S. Navy, then later graduated from Pontiac Business Institute. He and his wife Karen (Haulk) Syrus celebrated 31 years of marriage in July. Doug was a loyal member of the church and enjoyed volunteering at Emmaus Lutheran's Food Pantry every week. He was also know for his love of crocheting blankets, hats and much more. Douglas is predeceased by his parents. Surviving in addition to his wife Karen, are his daughter, Dawn Marie Syrus; one brother David Syrus; many nieces and nephews. Indianapolis, IN 46224, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A service of remembrance will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 1224 Laurel, Indianapolis, IN 46203 with a small showing at 11:00 a.m.
