Eglie Mary Stalas

Eglie Stalas, 88, of Indianapolis, IN, fell asleep unto the Lord surrounded by her family Friday, June 28th, 2018, in Muncie, IN. Eglie was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Philip and Alexandra Zanetides, who came to America through Ellis Island from Asia Minor and Greece. She met and married the love of her life, Theodore G. Stalas, RPh, in Indianapolis, IN, where they raised their family on the east side. Eglie worked for Block’s department store followed by Merchant’s National bank where she liked to collect $2 bills to give to her grandchildren. She had a lifelong appreciation for learning and classical music. She will be best remembered for her excellent cooking skills, storytelling, and her love for God, Country, and family. Eglie’s heritage may have been Greek, but she would always proudly say “I’m an American!” Eglie is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore G. Stalas. She is survived by her three children Alexandra (Thomas) Kocoshis, Christine Cooper, and Philip (Evelyn) Stalas; as well as her 7 grandchildren, who called her Yiayia: Angelus Kocoshis, Kassandra (Brian Bullard) Kocoshis, Ted Kocoshis, Andrew (Jessica) Cooper, Katy Cooper, Ted Stalas, and Jenny Stalas. She was also blessed to have 2 great grandchildren, Keller and Asher Cooper. Viewing will be between 10 AM and 12 PM on Monday, July 1, 2018, followed immediately by the Trisagion and funeral service at Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church 4550 N Central Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46205. Funeral arrangements are in care of Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary.
