 Obituario de Kevin Caraker
Kevin W. Caraker, 64, of Indianapolis, passed away on July 26, 2022. Kevin was born in E. St. Louis, Illinois October 13, 1957 to Gayle (Lirely) Caraker and Richard Elvin Caraker on October 13, 1957. He went to grade school at DuQuoin Elementary in DuQuoin, and Lick Creek Elementary in Southern Illinois, and high school at Anna/Jonesboro in Anna, Illinois. He graduated from Southern Illinois University (SIU) in Carbondale, Illinois with a B.S. in Engineering (concentration in Thermal and Environmental Engineering) and an M.S. in Engineering (concentration in Thermal and Environmental Engineering). He worked as a Senior Health, Safety, and Environmental Engineer, and a Senior Environmental Project Engineer at Rolls-Royce Corp., Veolia North America, Heritage Environmental and quasi-retired from Heritage Environmental. He was a Boy Scout as a teen and help lead Dylan to become and Eagle Scout. Kevin held many volunteer positions in Cub Scouts and Eagle Scouts, including Den Leader for 5 years and Popcorn Kernel for 7 years. He was a member of St. Luke’s Methodist church in Indianapolis and Central Indiana Woodworkers. Kevin is preceded in death by his father, Richard Caraker, and all 4 grandparents - Philip and Lona (Russell) Caraker and Bill and Lucille (Jackson) Lirely. Kevin is survived by his wife of 40 years, Anne “Anita” (Hedrick) Caraker, his loving son, Dylan (Celeste and baby Ellette) Caraker, sisters Diana Caraker (David) Taylor, Ginger Caraker (Gary) Brasher, and brother Keith Caraker, Alisa (Lilly) Socash, nieces Ashlyn Brasher, nephews Nathan (Tara), Justin (Roxy) Taylor, Jonathan (Hannah) Caraker, and Michael Caraker. Visitation and graveside service will be held at 2pm, Saturday August 6, 2022 at the Gothic Chapel on the grounds of Crown Hill Cemetery with the Reverend Danny Thomas officiating. Arrangements are by Crown Hill Funeral Home. Kevin loved woodworking, reading novellas, working in his beloved yard with the hostas, ferns and daylilies, traveling, watching The Amazing Race, whichever cat(s) we have rescued, etc. Memorials may be given to the Indy Humane Shelter on N Michigan Rd. Kevin became a cat person after marrying Anita and loved dogs as well.
