I loved Martha like a sister. She and I were friends but felt like family. I am so glad we got to see each other last year and had a good visit. I will always remember her smile and her laugh. I send my prayers to Kara Jean and Karen Jr.

Marty Rivard was one of those endearing souls that, once you have met her, you will never forget her. She was the first person I met on my first day at my new unit as I was lost and roaming the halls of the 337th Combat Support Hospital at Ft. Benjamin Harrison in 1999. She approached me with her great big captivating smile, and escorted me around and introducing me to as many people as she could find. I always admired her for her kindness toward everyone. She was a beloved leader and most definitely an advocate for all of us. I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to be with her again at our military reunion in 2018, many years after our retirement. She hadn’t changed a bit, and neither had her smile.

I worked briefly with Marty’s sweet daughter, Kara, and would like to extend to her and all of Marty’s loved ones my deepest sympathy. I pray that your many happy memories with her will carry you through this difficult time. Know that she was deeply loved by many.

Marty was a gentle soul but she was also a warrior. She was a mentor, friend and a confident. She had a belief in God that was unwavering. But she also had a belief in her fellow human beings, would see the good ,the positive of all that she met. She had an undying love for her family. She will never know how big her family was for that love carried many of us though lots of hard times. Proud to have known her and proud to have been part of her worldly family. I know she has gone home and it is a comfort she will still be watching over us all. May you rest in the palms of His hands.

Dear Kara & Family,
Please accept my deepest sympathy for the passing of your mother and grandmother. As a former classmate of Kara's, I remember Martha fondly when we would have sleepovers at her country home. She was always so kind to all of us giddy little girls who spent the night with Kara (Jeanie or Jeana, I think is what her mom called her then). I recall her patient, soft-spoken way, and how she graciously opened her home to all of us. Growing up in the small town of Enfield, I admired Martha for her education and often relied on her knowledge and expertise as a nurse, as so many others in our little community did. I am blessed to have known such a strong, intelligent and hard-working woman. She has left a legacy that your family can certainly be proud of. I pray that you feel God's peace and comfort hovering over you at this time.
