Lois Hite, 100, of Bloomington passed away on Friday November 23, 2018. Lois was born August 8, 1918 to the late Ora and Alice (Shockley) Cathey in Hamilton, Texas. She married Jack Hite September 17, 1944 in Hamilton, Texas. He has previously passed.
Lois graduated from Hamilton High School with the class of 1936. She received an associates from Tarleton State College in 1938, her B.S. from Daniel Baker College in 1941 and took Post Grad classes at Ball State University. Lois then became an elementary teacher at Roosevelt Elementary and Pettit Park Schools. She retired in 1954. Once retired, Lois was a Part time substitute teacher. Lois was a member of Chapter BU of P.E.O Sisterhood, Honorary Chapter of Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Cheer Guild Member and volunteered for 9 years at the St. Joseph Hospital Gift Shop. She was also a member of the First Christian Church for many years. Lois played golf, knit and loved to host parties. Lois spent her final years in under the care of her son in Bloomington after a serious fall.
Lois is survived by her son Richard Hite and several extended family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings.
An entombment for Lois will be held Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please, in memory of Lois, contribute to St. Vincent Hospital (St. Joseph) in Kokomo.
