Richard Francis Hiteshew

Richard Francis Hiteshew, 96, of Kokomo, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Traditions of Beavercreek Assisted Living in Beavercreek, Ohio. Richard was born July 22, 1922 to the late Schuyler T. Hiteshew and Etta Louise (Young) Hiteshew in Peru, IN. He married Norma Virginia (Hartmann) Hiteshew in 1945 and she passed in April 2018. Richard graduated from Peru High School, and graduated with a BCS degree from the International Business College of Fort Wayne, IN. Richard was a U.S. Navy veteran; enlisting August 22, 1942 and retiring January 1, 1981 after 38 years. He served his country in WWII, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. During his Military career he traveled all over the world, including the Philippines, Japan, Korea, and Senegal. He was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club in Kokomo, and the Fleet Reserve Association. Those who have passed before him are his parents, wife Norma and two sons, Mark and Kevin Hiteshew. Surviving him are his two daughters Elaine Kitchin (Stewart), Rebecca Berndsen (Frank), son Douglas Hiteshew (Jeanine), six grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral Services for Richard will take place Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer; 705 E. Southway Blvd. at 11:00am with Pastor William Allison officiating. A one hour visitation for friends and family will be held prior from 10:00am to 11:00am. Entombment with Military Honors with the U.S. Navy and the Kokomo VFW will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
