Ruth P. Karns, age 85, passed away on April 29, 2019 at her home in Kokomo while surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born on October 23, 1933 in Kokomo to the late Roscoe and Martha (Bolen) Bugher.
Ruth grew up with five brothers and three sisters in Kokomo. She had worked for Delco Electronics in Kokomo for 30 years, before retiring in 1983. She was married to Allen Sandford Karns, and he preceded her in passing on October 9, 2001.
Ruth always kept a clean house, and enjoyed hosting visitors. She was always certain to provide visitors with a meal before they left. She also enjoyed going on cruises, listening to music and dancing. More than anything, Ruth was very family-oriented, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by her children, Sharon Gillem and Mark (Melinda Moore) Karns; grandchildren, Sabrina Harrison, Dawson Harrison II, Dustie Jackson-Roark, Rachel Rayls, Adrian Karns, and Jacob Karns; 14 great grandchildren, with one on the way; and 10 great-great grandchildren, with one on the way.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Autumn Lee Karns; great grandson, Isiah Berry; brothers, Ray Bugher, Homer Bugher, Verlin Bugher, John Bugher, and Paul Bugher; and sisters, Lula Belle Springer, Norma Cardwell, and Marilyn Bates.
There will be a public visitation for Ruth held at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home on Friday, May 3rd from 11-1, followed immediately by a funeral service. Ruth will then be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
