 Obituario de Glide Miller Campbell
Glide Miller Campbell, 1936 – 2017 Glide Miller Campbell, 80, of Amherst, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2017. Glide was born on October 16, 1936 in Amherst County, to the late Byron H. Campbell and Kathleen Mays Campbell. He is preceded in death by his greatly missed wife Thelma “Ann” Campbell, his brother B.H. Campbell Jr., his sister Glenna Price, and his son-in-law David Sieck. He is survived by son Gary D. Campbell (Diane) and daughter Sheri C. Sieck. He took pride in his family and was a loving grandfather to Bryan J. Campbell (Holly) and Jordan E. Campbell, as well as great-grandfather to Havana, Charlotte, and Cali Campbell. Glide leaves behind siblings Willard Campbell, Iris Mays, Juanita Ondrick and Jerry Campbell, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Glide was a U.S. Army veteran, worked at the Lynchburg Foundry, and loved working in his garden and raising cattle. He was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church and attended Bethany United Methodist Church. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life on Friday, August 4, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Whitten Monelison Funeral Home in Madison Heights. A separate memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 5, at 2:00pm at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Amherst. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Clifford Ruritan Club, of which he was a long-time member, or the American Cancer Society. His family would like to especially thank Dr. Cecelia MacCallum and the Lynchburg Hematology and Oncology staff, and well as the staff of Lynchburg General Hospital, for their exceptional care and compassion.
