Leeward Elvin Glass

Leeward Elvin Glass, 87, of Madison Heights passed away Friday, January 15, 2021, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Barbara Tomlin Glass. Born February 11, 1933, in Lynchburg he was the son of the late Aubrey Barnhardt Glass and the late Esther Taylor Sherian. Leeward was a retired engineer for the Lynchburg Foundry Company and a member of Timberlake United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife and parents, Leeward was preceded in death by two siblings, Cleland Glass and Janet Glass Rosser. Leeward is survived by two sons, Barry L. Glass and his wife Connie of Virginia Beach and C. Randall Glass and his wife Stacey of Dover, NH; one brother, Preston Glass and his wife Linda of Campbell County; two granddaughters, Katie Glass and Megan Glass (Phillip Dennison); one great grandson, Alexander Holcomb Glass; and other loving family members and friends. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Matt Laskey officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. There will be an open time to pay respects from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at Whitten Monelison Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dementia Society of America or the Alzheimer’s Association.
