Leroy Elton Humphries

Leroy Elton Humphries, 73, of Madison Heights, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022 at his home. He was born in Lynchburg on September 12, 1948, son of the late Archie E. Humphries and the late Vernell S. Humphries. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandchild, Little One Tyree and a sister, Chancer Jamison. Leroy retired from the City of Lynchburg Water Department and was a member of Elon Baptist Church. He enjoyed his yard work and was great at telling tall tales having never met a stranger. What he really enjoyed though was being Papa. Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Teresa W. Humphries; two daughters, Stephanie Humphries (Christy Bernard) and Amy Tyree (Otis); three sisters, Brenda Staton (Clayton), Cynthia Stinson (Steve) and Darlene Humphries; a brother in law, Barry Jamison as well as a granddaughter, Allie Jane Tyree, along with numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 12, 2022 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Steve Tyree officiating.
