CROWE, Evan Hall, 82, of Mechanicsville, Va., went to be with his Lord on Thursday, November 23, 2017. Evan was born to Willard and Josephine Crowe on January 9, 1935. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Beth Wilson Crowe; his brother, W.A. “Chuck” Crowe; his sisters, Clara Thompson, Elizabeth “Beckie” Kemp, and Ruby Blake. He is survived by his brother, Thurman (Dot) Crowe, and his sister, Royce Beasley; 7 nephews, 4 nieces, 13 great-nephews, 13 great-nieces, 8 great-great-nephews, and 14 great-great-nieces.
Evan was a 1953 graduate of John Marshall High School and served in the United States Army. He was a lifetime member of Fairmount Christian Church, retired from the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, and was a former employee of Woody Funeral Home. He played the piano, sang in numerous choral groups, including the NOTE-ABLES Fairmount quartet, and especially loved to sing the “Lord’s Prayer.” Evan was known by family for faithfully sending birthday cards.
The family will receive friends Monday, November 27 from 2-7 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home-Atlee Chapel, 9271 Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23116. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Fairmount Christian Church, 6502 Creighton Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Church of Christ Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fairmount Christian Church or the charity of your choice.
