Beverly is preceded in death by her father, Curtis Cummings; mother, Dorothy Cummings Akin; stepfather, Ben Akin; and daughter-in-law, Karen Saintsing Puckett. She is survived by her husband, Larry Puckett; daughter, Jan Chapman (Joel); son, Steve Puckett; stepsister, Janis Combs (Bobby, dec’d); stepsister, Jane Merrick (Charlie); and stepbrother, Ben Akin (Carol). She has three (3) grandsons: Joel “Chap” Chapman, IV; Jaye Chapman (Madison) and Josh Puckett.
Mom was a true example of the woman described in Proverbs 31.
She was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family and worked tirelessly to provide for them. She was creative and resourceful and worked vigorously to make sure her family had everything we needed. She was a faithful servant in the church. She taught Sunday school for many years and made sure we were prepared for our lessons each Sunday morning as well. She cooked many meals for those in need. She cared for her mom and stepdad as well as her in-laws in their time of sickness. She established in us a legacy of faith, family and service. We are eternally grateful that God gave her to us. We are blessed in this life and beyond because of her witness.
We want to say a special thank you to the caregivers that helped us over the last few years. Thank you to Darla Fontenot for your special relationship with mom. She truly loved you! Thank you to Rachel Briggs. You are very special to our parents. Thank you to Rhonda Hunt for the generous gift of your time and friendship you gave to our parents. Your visits always brightened their day. Thank you to Zacki Revell, mom’s Hospice nurse. Thank you for your care and kindness with mom. Thank you, Keisha, Hospice CNA, for your care of our mom.
We also want to say thank you to all of our church family, friends and hospice staff that watched out for them and were quick to help in times of need. We love you all!
To our Momma, your work on earth here is done. Go rest on high with the Father and the Son. We will see you again one glorious day. Thank you for loving us! We will love you forever and always!
