Sharen A Chambers

Sharen A. (Land) Carter Chambers, 79, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020, at home. Sharen was born October 24, 1941, in LaGrande, Oregon, to Edward Land and Cybil (Barker) Land. She married James Carter, and he passed away in 1989. She then married Ronnie Chambers in 1994, and he survives. Sharen was a very talented artist. She ran a bakery in Muncie for many years, made custom designed cakes, and traced the genealogy of family members. She created and ran a website on genealogy. Sharen crocheted lap blankets, neck pillows, and toboggans for veterans in Marion. She also made blankets and dresses for preemies and gave them to the women’s shelter in Marion. Sharen loved her flower beds and was an avid reader. She would read hardback and paperback books and then donate them to the animal shelter to sell for funding to care for the animals. She and Ronnie also fostered twenty plus dogs. Sharen is survived by her husband of twenty-six years, Ronnie Chambers; a daughter, Shonna Moore (James); step-son, Jason Chambers (Jenny); step-daughter, Rhonda Burgess (Tony); a brother, Rodney Land (Carol); sisters, Toni McLaughlin and Tina Milner (Nick); grandchildren, Hannah Moore, Amber Carter (fiancé, Jay Hagar), Stephanie Slaybaugh (Josh); step-grandchildren, Alexandra Burgess and Claire Burgess; great-grandchildren, Annemarie Carter, Austen Slaybaugh, Abriella Slaybaugh, Lyla Slaybaugh, and Avalyn Slaybaugh. Sharen was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Cybil Land; a son, Duane Carter; and a brother, Howard Land. No services are planned. Cremation will take place. Burial will be at Elm Ridge Memorial Park at a later date. Elm Ridge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
