Ewald Grieb, 84, of Georgetown, Indiana passed from this life January 5, 2021 at Baptist Health Floyd. He was born in Bessarabia, Romania on May 10, 1936, to Jacob Grieb and Magdalene Wallentin Grieb and moved to Germany in 1944 with his family. Ewald immigrated to the United States in 1952 with his parents and brothers. They settled in an area outside Louisville, Kentucky. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in New Albany and was active in the church until poor health prevented him from doing so any longer. He was a retired employee of General Electric. Ewald was a member of the German-American Club in Louisville, Kentucky and enjoyed participating in so many events sponsored by the club. He enjoyed working outdoors especially in planting and caring for the grass and shrubs at his home. Besides his well-groomed yard, he will forever be known for his immaculately clean and spotless vehicles. Ewald also loved kids and he always had a peppermint in his pocket to pass out when "Mr. Ewald" was asked for candy. There was a glorious reunion when Ewald was reunited with his furry best friend, Dandy. Ewald was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Erhard Grieb; and a sister-in-law, Clara Kopp Grieb. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia Charlene Blair Grieb; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry Dale Grieb and Pamela Pierson Grieb, of Sellersburg, Indiana; a grandson, Cameron Scott Grieb of New Albany, Indiana; a brother and sister-in-law, Werner Grieb and Madeline Grieb of Louisville, Kentucky; eight nieces; two nephews and many surviving cousins in the United States and Germany.
