EN EL CUIDADO DE
Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory
Claude Calvin Welch, Jr., of Varina, passed away suddenly on March 10, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Blankenship Welch and Claude Calvin Welch, Sr. Left to cherish his memory are Christine Garber Welch; son, Jason Welch and wife, Wanda; two grandchildren, Kenley and Camden Welch; brother, Stuart Welch; sister, Lou Sheets; nephew, Jimmy; and niece, Ashley. He also felt blessed to have so many wonderful friends (you know who you are). Claude attended Highland Springs High School where he played football and excelled in track, setting state records that remained unbroken for years. He was also an EMT at Allied Ambulance in Richmond. Claude finally found his niche as a Private Investigator, “Minimum P.I.”, and Process Server. He was a past member of the Varina Jaycees. The Federal Club golf course was his newest pleasure. Claude enjoyed golfing and hunting with his friends, cruising through the Caribbean and Canada, and “terrorizing the village” in his hunting buggy. A visitation will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home on Laburnum Avenue on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 2-4 p.m., followed by a brief memorial service at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please honor his memory with a gift to your favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at www.nelsenrichmond.com.
