Obituario de Edwin Lee "Ducky" Cullingsworth, Jr.
CULLINGSWORTH, Edwin Lee, “Ducky”, Jr., 90, also known as “Capt’ Cully” and “Paw”, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, in the home he built for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Lee and Mary Childress Cullingsworth and sister, Mary C. Tignor (Albert). He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Rose Femiani Cullingsworth; children, Kennith Lee (Lynn), Kathy, Kim, and Karen C. Merk (John); his sister, Anne C. Akers (Jerry); brother-in-law, Phillip P. Femiani (Flora); niece, Karol Akers; nephew, Dennis Tignor; seven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. After an honorary discharge from the Naval Reserve, he was a well-known TV repairman while owning Ducky’s TV & Appliance. An avid flyer, he piloted his personal plane out of New Kent Airport, taking family on trips to Pennsylvania and Maryland, and also chartering flights to Hatteras, NC for deep sea fishing. He enjoyed time with his family on the “Pagan Lady” – a 60 ft. refurbished yacht, built in 1937 at New York Naval Shipyard, later confiscated to be used in WWII to sail along the East Coast in search of enemy war ships and submarines. He started commercial fishing while owning “Cully’s Railway” in White Stone, VA., and later opened “Cully’s Seafood” with his wife. The family will receive friends Friday, April 16, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231. A private graveside service will be held at Signal Hill Memorial Park in Hanover County. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southside SPCA.
