.Cletus Arthur Shuler of Shenandoah, born October 12, 1939, passed away suddenly October 25 2014. He was the son of the late Paul Russell Shuler and Charlotte Atwood Shuler. Also, preceding him in death was a sister, JoAnne Glenn Hite. Survivors include his wife of 55 years Margaret Hensley Shuler; daughters Natalie Shuler Rinaca and husband, Jay, Millicent Shuler Smith and husband, David, and a son C.A. Shuler; grandchildren, Kelli Rinaca Caton and husband Cody, Meaghan Smith, MaKayla Smith, Jenna Shuler and Corey Shuler; one great- granddaughter, Adison Caton; a brother, David R. Shuler and his wife, Carol, and many nieces and nephews. Cletus graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1958, and retired with 38 years of service from Sprint Telephone Company. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shenandoah where he served many years as a member of the church council, Sunday school superintendent and on the property committee. He was past financial treasurer and chair and treasurer of the cemetery committee. He was honored as being named a Deacon of his church. Cletus was a lifetime member of the Shenandoah Volunteer Fire Department, Massanuttan Hunting Club, the Virginia Bear Hunters Association and the International Brotherhood of the Electrical Workers. He lived his entire life in the Grove Hill area. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing and spent many years in the Shenandoah Bowling League. He owned and operated a small farm. Cletus loved his grandchildren and supported them whole heartedly. He enjoyed his mornings at Kite’s Store with his buddies. He was well known and loved by many. Honoring his wishes he will be cremated and a graveside service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 3:00 pm with Rev. Mark Briehl and Rev. Phyllis Diamond officiating. Friends may visit with the family following this service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Paul Cemetery Fund, 6433 US Hwy 340, Shenandoah, VA, 22849, Shenandoah Volunteer Rescue, 544 4th Street, Shenandoah, VA 22849 or the Shenandoah Volunteer Fire Department, 201 Pennsylvania Ave., Shenandoah, VA 22849.
