James “Jim” Edward Cover Sr. passed away Sunday, June 14, 2020 at the age of 85.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Elizabeth Julia Cover; his son, Richard Cover (wife Carolyn); and his daughters, Deborah Smith (husband Donald), Linda Poole, and Pamela Davidson. He will also be greatly missed by his 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his son, James Edward Cover Jr.

Jim was the youngest of 7 children and was also preceded in death by his 6 older siblings as well as his beloved puppy "princess".

Jim spent his life working in the computer field and was proud of his civil service as a computer systems analyst for the US Marine Corp in Quantico, VA.

Jim was known for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone he met. He enjoyed teaching Sunday school and bringing people to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Jim loved his beautiful wife Elizabeth, aka "Babydoll" more than life itself, and he was the ultimate example of what a great husband, father, grandfather and man should be. He brought up all of his children to know the Lord and was extremely proud of the awesome family he and Elizabeth created.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel, with the family receiving friends an hour prior. Interment will follow in Stafford Memorial Park.

Aunt Betty & Family,

Hugs to you and all the family around you. Spending childhood with you and Uncle Jim have been some of my favorite family memories. I loved seeing Grandad, Uncle Jim and many more aunts and uncles together. Some I loved to hear stories about and others I loved being around while memories drifted all around us. Every drive south through Virginia makes me think of you and Uncle Jim. A favorite uncle that loved our Lord so much. My heart smiles when I think of him. Love to you with hugs.

Aunt Betty & Family,
We were so very sorry to hear of Uncle Jim's passing. He was very much loved & I have so many fond memories of him when our family and yours were able to get together for a treasured visit. Like his obituary said, he was a wonderful man who loved his family & his Lord. Tho it's hard to see our loved ones leave us, we can find comfort in knowing he is in his forever home with the loved ones that have gone on before him. He is whole, healthy & rejoicing with his God & waiting for the rest to join him.
We really enjoyed looking at the old family pictures & reading the loving poem he wrote to you Betty so many years ago. That is a treasure!
With our love & prayers,
John & Joy Hinton (Blough)

May Family and Friends find peace during this time. "Jim" was a Security Officer at Mary Washington Hospital under my command and I just wanted to share with you that Jim was a very kind and caring man and he did a excellent job during his time at MWH. Jim would always carry out his assignments and gave 100% effort 8 hours a day. Jim was not only respected for his work ethics by the security staff but was also highly appreciated by the medical staff. Jim Thank You for your service, Thank You for your leadership, and Thank You for being the wonderful person you were.
