Ruth Robinette

Ruth Stinson Robinette, 88, of Staunton, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2016 after complications from COPD. She was born on October 6, 1927 in Richlands, Virginia to the late Jay and May (McBrayer) Stinson. Ruth spent most of her life in the beautiful Rockingham County, which she loved. She also loved spending time with her great grandchildren, bird watching, sewing and cooking. Ruth enjoyed discussing politics and reading the New Yorker and the Washington Post. She was a feisty soul right up until the end. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, James Robinette, and her daughter, Amanda Lingon. Left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Mindy Hughes of Staunton, Katie and Tony Lingon of Columbus, Ohio; three great grandchildren; Willow, Berk, and Bailey Hughes; whom will miss her dearly; a brother, Timothy Stinson of Southwest Virginia; a sister, Phoebe Robinson of California; as well numerous extended family. Following Ruth’s wishes for cremation, there will be no formal services. Arrangements have been conducted by the Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
