James "Jim" Allen Dowen

James Allen Dowen, 71, of Middletown, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital. He was born on December 13, 1946, in Terre Haute to James Glenn and Mary (McGuigan) Dowen. Jim is survived by his children: Rebecca (Dowen) Connell and husband Bart of Delaware, OH; Margaret (Dowen) O’Toole and husband Ronald of Marine, IL; and Mary (Dowen) Hatcher and husband Troy of Middletown; nine grandchildren: Cameron Dowen, Dalton Hatcher, Summer Connell, Madison “Maddie” Connell, Bailey Hatcher, Katie Connell, Margaret “Meggie” O’Toole, Ronald “Rock” O’Toole, and James Brock O’Toole; a brother, Frank Dowen of Terre Haute; and a sister, Carole Dowen of Terre Haute. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Margaret Dowen. Jim graduated from Gerstmeyer High School in 1965 and Rose Hulman Engineering School in 1969. He worked as a chemical engineer for GM’s Guide Lamp Division. He will be deeply missed by his family. Graveside services will be held at noon on Saturday, July 28 at Roselawn Memorial Park with Pastor Larry Lilly officiating. Thomas Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
