Johnnie Edward Mace, 83, of Coal City, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021 at Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 22, 1937, in Burden, Kansas to Carl and Gladys (Harrison) Mace.
Johnnie is survived by his wife of 65 years, Aletha (Grindle) Mace of Coal City; four children, Tina Landes and husband Steve, Johnnie Mace Jr., Tony Mace and wife Melanie, and Victor Mace and wife Glenda; grandchildren, Joseph Inman, Jared Inman, Amy Davenport, Brandi Mace, Ryan Mace, Trevor Mace, and Kathy Aleshire; siblings, Howard Mace, Dorothy Milner, Blanche Rivers, and Mary Koch; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Glen; and sister, Marian.
Johnnie was a lifelong farmer in his community. He farmed for over 50 years and he enjoyed every day of it. He was skilled at fixing farm equipment and was fondly known as the "Tractor Doctor" to many.
He loved to tell jokes and stories. Johnnie loved going to auctions and was an avid Indiana Pacers fan. He was a member of Mt. Aetna Church.
Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 13 at Roselawn Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home with Pastor Jack Hopkins officiating. Johnnie will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Park's Chapel of Memories.
