Joyce Clark is my beloved aunt. She was a constant loving presence in my childhood. Her patient and kind voice is easy to recall and always brings a smile. She deeply impacted my life in her example as a Christian woman dedicated to serving Christ at the church and in her home and friendships. She has also served as a role model for me as a teacher. I joined this profession later in life but credit her for being a powerful influence on how I interact with children. I think of her every time I curl a ribbon for a present as she taught me how to do that. It is a small thing, but symbolic of the many hours we spent together just making things. But mostly what I will carry from Joyce is her love. As anyone who spent any time with her knows, her warmth radiated from her to everyone around. Her laugh was a balm and her hugs wrapped you up and made you feel safe. I will forever be thankful that Joyce was my aunt.

I had Mrs. Henriott as my 2nd grade teacher at Wenz Elementary school in Paris, IL back in the '93-'94 school year. I vividly remember how nervous I was about 2nd grade, but it was all for nothing. Mrs. Henriott was the sweetest lady, and you could tell she loved her job and her students. I still remember learning cursive and the program we had to help improve reading skills. I feel like I learned a lot of skills that carried into the grades beyond from a wonderful educator. I am so very sorry to hear of her passing. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Joyce was a sweet person, neighbor and fellow Paris teacher. I will forever remember her working on the cross-stitch ornaments each year for her students. My greatest sympathy to Gordon, Tom, and family.

Joyce was by far one of the kindest persons I have known. She will be missed by many people, especially her family and church friends. God bless her!
