Rita Ann Mankin

Rita Ann (Smith) Mankin, 69, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was born in Terre Haute to Logan and Lucille (Cox) Smith on April 15, 1951.

Rita coached cheerleading and dance from 1989 to 2016. During this time, Coach Rita founded and directed the Boppin’ Bobcats, Twistin’ Tigers, Rockin’ Otters, Americats, North Lightning All-Stars, and Xtreme Lightning All-Stars. When she had some free time, she loved to draw, write poetry, and spend time with her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Coach Rita is survived by her daughters, Angie (Troy) Ramey, Missy (Chris) Bailey; her grandchildren, Tyler Bailey, Macy Ramey, Krislynn Bailey, Marlee Ramey, Madisyn Ramey, Logan Bailey; and her beloved dog, Coco.

Visitation for Rita will be Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. The service will begin at 2:00pm with Pastor Dick Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Online condolences can be made at www.mattoxwoodfuneralhome.net.

Everyone that knew Rita will miss her. She was always kind, loving and a nice person to all she came in contact with. She had a loving relationship with her daughters and grandchildren. We will all miss you so much. Rest in peace dear Rita. 💞
