Harriet B. Oberdorf

Harriet B. Oberdorf, 79, passed away on November 2, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born on May 21, 1939 to the late Clara and Guy Colburn in Boston, MA. She is preceded in death by her husband Clarence B. Oberdorf, twin sons Gary and Glen and granddaughter Anne Marie Weaver, her brothers; Robert, Edward, and David, and her sisters; Clara, Joyce, Norma, Beverly and Judy. Mom was a devoted Navy wife, mother and Nana. She was dedicated to her family, loved to cook, especially family dinner on Sundays. A woman of many talents and passions for sewing, knitting, candy making, and cake decorating. She was a Girl Scout Leader, Avon representative and children’s advocate. Mom was independent, confident, courageous and generous to a fault. She is survived by daughters Linda Weaver (Gary) and Brenda Toone; grandchildren, Jean-Marie Parke (Graydon), Melanie Butler (Stephen), Stephanie Hendershot (James), Gary Weaver, II (Anna), and Daniel Toone. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren, Braden, Seth, Brody, Finnegan, Ainsley and Jameson. Also survived by her brother, Donald Colburn. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, 4889 Princess Anne Rd., Virginia Beach, VA.
