Shirley Jean McKown

Shirley Jean McKown, 81, passed away peacefully at Cathy Fink's home in Elizabeth City, N.C. on April 12, 2024. She was born on May 30, 1942 to the late Clarence and Jessie Williams in Norfolk, Virginia. Her only surviving sister is Brenda Hilliger (Art). She is preceded in death by her husband, Mack McKown also her sister Norma Mae Myers. Shirley worked various jobs but her favorite was working with horses. She worked hard to support her mother after her dad passed away. She was a loved aunt and friend. She also loved animals. Champ and Dixie were her beloved pets that she pampered and loved so much. They were her children. She is survived by her nieces, Cathleen R. Fink; which was her caregiver for many years. Other nieces are Lisa Latham,(Dale) Jean McGinnis, Cindy Doan (deceased) and nephew Roy Myers. She has many other nieces and nephews who loved her also. Also, special thanks and love to Matt McGinnis for helping her in various ways. She will be surely missed as she rest in the arms of Jesus. A visitation for Shirley will be held Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462. A celebration of life will occur Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 2:00 PM, 601 N Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462. A burial will occur at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462.
