Hiram A. Barber, 67, passed away on January 29, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born on August 14, 1955 to the late Shelby and Voncile Barber.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Cecelia Barber; his daughters, Amanda Wood (Ryan) and Brandi White (Kyle); granddaughters, Hannah Wood and Wren White; grandsons, Johnathan Wood and Dane White; sister, Annie Brock; and many other beloved family members. Hiram will be missed by his dog, Bandit, who was a constant companion for him.
Hiram was a devoted member of James River Baptist Church. He retired as Assistant Chief Park Ranger at Colonial National Historical Park. Post-retirement, he continued with many other endeavors. He was a skilled woodworker, lover of camping and the beach, and a true family man. His warm personality and sense of humor drew many friends from all over.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home located at 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188. His life will be celebrated on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 1:00 pm at James River Baptist Church, 4931 Centerville Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188, followed by a graveside service at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the James River Baptist Church kitchen fund are welcome.
