Diane Healy Stacy, 72, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026, surrounded by love. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, teacher, friend, and woman of unwavering faith who spent her life loving and serving others.
Diane was born in Chattanooga to Mayzie Healy Schneitman and Charles Healy. She was a graduate of Brainerd High School, where she was a cheerleader, and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where she continued to cheer and was a member of Chi Omega. She carried that spirit of encouragement with her throughout her entire life.
Diane dedicated more than 30 years to Hamilton County Schools, teaching in the classroom and physical education. In 2011, she was honored as Hamilton County Teacher of the Year.
Outside of school, Diane shared her love of fitness as an instructor at the YMCA and Sports Barn. She treasured the relationships she formed with her “exercise ladies,” many of whom became dear friends.
Diane was a lifelong servant. A member of Stuart Heights Baptist Church, she served in countless ways. She was also a Master Gardener and devoted volunteer with the American Cancer Society.
Her faith was not simply something Diane professed—it was something she lived. She believed deeply in Jesus Christ and demonstrated her faith through the way she treated people, served others, and persevered through difficult circumstances.
Diane was a fighter in every sense of the word. She persevered through the loss of her father at a young age, and later her beloved husband, David, all while surviving multiple cancer diagnoses.
Those who knew Diane knew that she was small in stature but enormous in energy, determination, and heart. She was fiercely loyal, kind to her core, and always willing to show up for the people she loved.
In many ways, Diane remained a cheerleader throughout her entire life—not with pom-poms, but through the way she encouraged, supported, and believed in others.
Diane’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife to David and a loving mother to her daughter, Lauren, and son-in-law, Rad. She treasured her role as grandmother to her only grandchild, Caroline, and cherished every moment of the four years she had with her.
Diane leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, service, perseverance, and encouragement. She gave generously of herself to her family, friends, students, church, and community, leaving an impact on countless lives.
She is survived by her daughter, Lauren (Rad) Davenport; granddaughter, Caroline Davenport; sister, Patricia (Tommy) McElhaney; mother-in-law, Betty Stacy; sisters-in-law, Teresa Roberson, Judie Brewer; brother-in-law, Butch Groves; and numerous beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, former students, and exercise ladies who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Stacy; parents, Mayzie Healy Schneitman and Charles Healy; step father, Charles Schneitman; father-in-law, Vernon Stacy; sister-in-law, Linda Groves; and brother-in-law, Dewey Roberson.
Diane’s family finds comfort in knowing that her faith has become sight and that she is now with Jesus and reunited with those she loved who went before her. After a lifetime of loving, serving, encouraging, and fighting, she can finally rest in the presence of her Savior.
A celebration of Diane’s life will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Chattanooga Funeral Home – North Chapel, Highway 153, Hixson. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
