Carol is survived by Walter McAndrews Sr., sons Wally Jr., Bobby and wife Cindy, daughter Carolanne and husband Kelly, grand-sons Robert Jr. and wife Tiana, Tyler and wife Emily, Kyle and Myles McAndrews, grand-daughters Alicia McAndrews Victoria and husband Sam, Alice Anne Marie Michels, great-grand-sons Conor Victoria, Russell and Ryan McAndrews and step-grand-children Frederick Owens, Jennie, Cessley and Katy Booth. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces. She was known as Momma Mac to a multitude of others, particularly to Joe-E and Stacy, both who have competed for the position of son #5 for nearly 40 years.
Carol had a passion for reading and learning and was rarely seen without a book in hand. From a very early age, she became dedicated to helping others and was known for her kind, welcoming and generous spirit. She was admired by many as a role model for empathy, forgiveness and unconditional love for her family. She had many friends and colleagues, all of whom have shared messages of love, admiration and respect over the past couple of days. Carol touched many lives and she absolutely made a difference in the lives of so many.
Her giving spirit is what led her to her pursuing a career in nursing. She was not only a hospital nurse but also a public-school nurse. She also co-authored a college nursing textbook and volunteered for charities which she held dearly in her heart. She earned her Master’s Degree, graduating summa cum laude from New York University (NYU) and became a Professor of Nursing where she taught clinical nursing to students at Rockland Community College in New York and at Lone Star College in Houston, Texas.
