Worked with Carol for many years at Northeast.  My fondest memory was drinking “Irish” coffee on St Patrick’s day and doing the the jig.  

I will alwways remember Carol's smile and her love for her Family and for life overall.   I always enjoyed seeing her with her Family at our Knights of Columbus Family Socials.   She truly enjoyed her time with her Family and also being with her extended Knights Family.   Rest In Peace Carol Ann!

I am unable to attend the funeral Mass today, as I had hoped.

My condolences to all Aunt Carol’s children and her entire extended family. She was well loved for sure!! I’m sorry we cannot be there in person but know you are in our thoughts and prayers. God bless Aunt Carol and I wish you peace. Say hi to my father in heaven for me. 

What’s on my mind today is my Aunt Carol McAndrews who passed away last week, just before her 81st birthday. She and Uncle Wally were married in 1958 and had the reception at the Hibernian Hall in Highbridge (Bronx, NY).
No kids allowed, but of course, I was snuck in to the reception for a couple of dances. I don’t remember much, but I remember doing the Polka with Uncle Frank (who of course was not really an uncle, but those were the times..)
For the next sixty plus years, she was Aunt Carol. At 11, she made me Godmother to Scotty, her third born, with Uncle Robert (her brother Robert Hoffman). It was an honor for me, especially at such a young age.
Over the years, she was a major part of my life and was there for literally every major event in that life. I watched as her family grew from the three boys on Undercliff Avenue in the Bronx, (Wally, Bobby and Scotty) to Jimmy and Carolanne (and sadly Anne Marie who we lost very soon after she was born).
As the oldest of the gang of cousins, my role was, of course, baby sitter to all. I cut my teeth on Scotty and Kelly (my sister) and Jimmy and Franky (my brother) and of course, my sweet Carolanne. The fact that Aunt Carol trusted me with her children was a blessing I really didn’t get until I was much older.
Anytime I went to NY from where I was stationed when I was in the Army, Aunt Carol had a place for me at her house. (she also had a place for my brothers and oh, my brother Rob’s dog, which he left there on more than one occasion).
We had a lot of fun over the 60+ years that I knew her and she will be sorely missed by all of us. The only consolation is that some of her favorite people will have already greeted her in heaven and she is at peace. Say hello to everyone for us please. We love you.

I worked with Carol at good ole Northeast Medical Center for many years.  Carol was always kind and caring putting her patients first.  As the chief nursing officer, i always knew that when Carol was on duty things would be done right.  Carol was a blessing to know.  Rest in peace pretty lady.

Thinking of our “step family” this week.  We only met Carol once at mom’s funeral, but have heard many nice things about her.  Condolences to the McAndrews clan.  Best to Wally, Bobby, Carolanne and all your families.  May she rest in peace.

Carol was a wonderful friend and neighbor while we lived in Foster's Mill.  She and her family were so warm and caring to the Schwager family.  She will be 
dearly missed.

When we were  all in the New Jersey/New York area and our children were young, we shared many nights together as a family, eating, drinking, chewing the fat, so to speak, and playing cards—sometimes late into the night.  We weren’t just playing cards, though.  Carol was always the orchestrator of conversation about the family.  She told the stories of her parents and Jules and Robert and herself and all the Hoffman saga of triumphs and tribulations.  It was always most apparent that her heart was full of love and that she wore it openly for all to see.  Of all of us, she had the biggest heart, which is is why we all loved her so much.  She made me feel like a real part of the family by including me in the Hoffman/McAndrew/Russell  cycle of life. I still treasure those memories of times together and watching her evolve as not only the  beloved family matriarch but as  a woman who pursued her own intellectual interests and always continued to grow.  Carol, dear you will be greatly missed.  Much love always.

Carol always included me in her family events, like Christmas  dinner and weddings of her  children.  She was a joy to work with and be  friends with.   I will  always  love her.  I remember  when I  asked her to be a  bridesmaid in my wedding. She responded "I am the same age as your parents,  don't you want someone  younger ". I told her that  no-one else was a closer truer friend than she was and I would be honored to have her. She  looked so beautiful in her gown. Our rehearsal  dinner was an outdoor  smorgasbord of seafood  directly from Maine that my parents brought down. She truly enjoyed it. 

I knew this day would come but I was never really prepared for it.    Our bond was strong and from my first day, you never, ever gave up on me.   You were there when I was sick and when I fell.  You cheered when I succeeded and you held me when I faltered.   I am often told that I am much like you, I could think of no greater compliment because you truly were the best.   Thank you for being my greatest teacher.  

My world will never, ever be the same without you in it, my grief overwhelms me knowing how terribly you will be missed.  I am also at peace knowing that you struggle no longer, you are without a doubt the strongest person I have ever known.  

All is good with your soul, this I know for sure and I take comfort knowing that you are in the Kingdom of God, reunited with your parents, brothers and most especially, Scott, Anne Marie, and Jimmy.     

Until we meet again sweet mother, my love and adoration will remain forever.   Son #2

Carol is such a beautiful woman with a beautiful soul! I am honored to have known her and her family! She always welcomed me into her home and always made time to sit and talk with me. She will be missed terribly by so many, though I know she is in heaven with her sons and many other loved ones. She will be missed and definitely left her mark on this world!
