Julie Jo Slaughter

Julie Jo (Hess) Slaughter, age 68, of Bloomington, passed away Wednesday evening, April 10, 2024 at Jill’s House in Bloomington. Born March 28, 1956 in Seymour, Indiana, she was the daughter of Robert “Bob” and Bonnie (Killion) Hess. Julie enjoyed being involved with fund raising, philanthropy, cooking, being a former Girl Scout leader and working with the Bloomington Hospital Foundation. She was a homemaker and enjoyed being a mother to her five children and taking them to recitals and ballgames. She cared for her daughter, Elle, at home as long as she was able. Julie is survived by her children; Owen (Courtney) Slaughter, of Bloomington, Zoe (Max) Slaughter, of Manhattan, Kansas, Julien (Sarah) Slaughter, of Indianapolis, Indiana, Eleanor “Elle” Slaughter, of Bedford, Indiana and Colin (Claire) Slaughter, of Nashville, Tennessee; two sisters, Linda Shore, of Plainfield, Indiana and Cindy Dollens, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, one soon to be born grandchild; three sisters-in-law, Ann (Joe) Andrews, Lynne (Christoph) Hodge and Sara (Tom Smith) Slaughter and one brother-in-law, Dr. Mark (Martha) Slaughter. Julie was preceded by her parents and her husband, Dr. Owen Slaughter in 2011. The family will receive friends at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home; 4150 E.
