Obituary of Glenda Belle Eldredge
Glenda Belle Eldredge, 94, passed away in Greensburg, Indiana on November 13, 2020. She was born November 13, 1926 in Harrisburg, Illinois to the late Glen and Minnie Keen. She grew up in Paris, Illinois and graduated from Paris High School in 1945. Glenda married Donald G. Eldredge in 1946 after he returned from the US Navy. Donald died August 8, 1997. Glenda was a lifelong IU fan and graduated from Indiana University in 1966 with a Bachelors and Masters degree in Elementary Education. Glenda taught first grade at Southridge Elementary in Highland, Indiana and retired in 1988. She spent her retirement at Lamb Lake in Trafalgar Indiana watching her grandsons play sports and participate in 4-H. After Donald’s passing Glenda moved to Lake Santee in Greensburg to watch her granddaughters play sports, dance, and show pigs in 4-H. Glenda was an active member of the First Christian Church of Greensburg and was involved with the Golden Rule Sunday School class. Glenda also spent time with the Retired Teacher’s Group of Greensburg and enjoyed reading to elementary classes every year. Glenda was devoted to her family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She was fondly known as “Pitzy” to her family and Grandma “Pitzy” to her grandchildren. Glenda is survived by two daughters: Karen (Rex) Beck of Bargersville, Indiana and Linda (Merrill) Smith of Greensburg, Indiana. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Adam and Michael (Jamie) Beck, Megan (Tony) Schildknecht, and Allison (Ben) Wilkerson. Glenda has four great-grandchildren: Evan and Mallory Beck, Teagan Schildknecht, and Everly Wilkerson. Preceding her in death were two sisters, Doris Jean (Charles) Thompson, and Mary Francis (Lawrence) Baggerly and her brother Glen Edward (Carolyn) Keen. Memorial donations can be made to the First Christian Church of Greensburg, Indiana or Our Hospice of Decatur County. Burial will be a family affair in Paris, Illinois. The family would like to thank the nurses of Aspen Place of Greensburg, Our Hospice of Decatur County, and First Christian Church for all their support and loving care.
