Claire Garneau

Claire Garneau, 84, of Indianapolis, passed away July 6, 2020 with her family by her side. Claire was born March 20, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late John Albert and Mary Esther (Fonash) Field. She was the middle girl of 11 children. She graduated from Little Flower Catholic High School in Philadelphia. Claire was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church. When she was younger, she enjoyed roller skating and used to dance on the original American Bandstand. She enjoyed arts and crafts, especially quilting. She enjoyed family and being with her girls most of all. Her favorite food was anything chocolate. Claire is survived by her four daughters, Elizabeth Ann (Trevor) Jones, Jo Ann (Chip) Hopkins, Jeanette Marie Garneau, and Cheryl (Francis) Wyatt; 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and two brothers, John (Mary) Field and Vince Field. She was preceded in death by her lifelong companion and soulmate, Martin “PaPa” Helmkamp. A memorial calling will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2020 from 2-4 PM at Leppert Mortuary – Nora Chapel, 740 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 13, 2020 at 11:30 AM at St. Luke Catholic Church, 7575 Holliday Drive East, Indianapolis, Indiana. Burial to follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Christian Social Action Fund for St. Luke Catholic Church.
