Mrs. Garneau was an ever-present mom in my life, always opening her door to me, the girl down the street who was best friends with her daughter, Jo Ann. She always welcomed me and spent endless hours supervising me and my brothers when we raced to her house to swim on hot summer days. May she rest in peace.

Mammah, you always taught me to be independent and fiercely loyal, because that’s what you were up until the end. I will choose to remember the good, learn from the bad, and lead my family with love. Sleep well, Mammah, I’m still looking out for you and will love you till we meet again .
