Florian J. “Bud” Flum, 90 of Markle passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at his residence. Bud was a 1946 graduate of East Union High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Bud was an avid fisherman, he loved to cook for his church, family and friends. He was a member of the Zanesville United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Markle VFW until they merged with the VFW Post 2689 in Huntington. Bud was born on August 23, 1929 in Yoder, IN, the son of the late William and Jennie (Reed) Flum. He was united in marriage to Alice A. Fritz on September 6, 1953 in Zanesville. Alice preceded him in death on December 27, 2015. Survivors include two daughters: Susan (Ted) Graft of Uniondale; Sandra Flum of Greenwood; a son: Phillip Flum of Zanesville; and seven grandchildren: Clinton (MacKenzie) Graft of Powell, WY; Jessica (Nathan) Rice of Blandchester, OH; Danielle (Alan) Flum-Wilson of Warsaw; Aaron (Joy) Flum of Willshire, OH; Abbey (Tim) McClure of Prescott, AZ; Katie Flum of Zanesville; Joshua Flum of Payson, AZ and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Velma Wiekel and Ruby Caley. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 from 10:30 am – 11:00 am at the Hoverstock Cemetery in Zanesville. We will be following the CDC’s guidelines for Social Distancing and Social Gathering Limits. Interment will follow the graveside service. Memorial donations can be made out to Zanesville United Methodist Church or to Visiting Nurse and Hospice both in care of Myers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 403, Markle, IN 46770.
