Obituary of Lare "Rae" Dontel Jackson
Lare Dontel Jackson, 47, of Amherst went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Monday, July 5, 2021. He was the husband and best friend of Nancy Buckley Jackson, who will love him forever. He was born on November 19, 1973 in Lynchburg. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children that he loved with all of his heart, Tyler and Tanner Jackson, both of Lynchburg, Mikah Rucker of Madison Heights, Jasmine Rucker of Lynchburg, and Kaylyn Rucker of Amherst. He is also survived by his adoring parents, Phyllis Jackson of Fredericksburg and Larry and Michelle Jackson of Louisa. Also he is survived by his loving sister, Patrice Jackson and her children, Teshon, Tenara, and Toriaynah all of Fredericksburg; step- sisters and brother, Kenzie, Desaray, and Allen; and many other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and great friends. Rae was one of a kind, with a smile and laugh that would light up any room. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for anybody he loved. He never met a stranger and to know him was to love him. He loved his family more than anything in the world, and he will be missed, loved, and cherished in our hearts forever. If you knew Rae, you know he was the world’s biggest Dallas Cowboys fan, as well as his LA Dodgers. We are requesting that any of his family and friends to wear any team jersey of your choice to his service, as Lare would have loved that. A celebration of Lare’s life will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Alvin Scott officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm to 2:45 pm prior to the service.
