Obituary of Alvin Watkins Saunders
Alvin Watkins Saunders, 87, of Evington passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Edna Bennett Saunders. Born in Campbell County, May 4, 1934, he was the son of the late Robert Saunders and Mabel McFaden Saunders. He was retired from J.E. Sears Co. and was a longtime member of Salem United Methodist Church. He was a skilled carpenter and could build anything. He enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting, fishing and gardening. He worked hard all of his life to provide for this family. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Baldwin and Ann Saunders. He is survived by two daughters, Bonnie S. Gibson (Dink) and Joyce C. East (Robin); one son, Jason V. Saunders (Shannon); one brother, Robert Saunders, Jr. (Maggie); one sister, Mary Jo Martin and four grandchildren, Lauren Saunders, Joseph Saunders, Kaleb Saunders and Lukas Saunders. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Salem United Methodist Church. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the church cemetery.
