Margaret A. Friedl, age 81, of Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away at her home on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 with her loving family by her side. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth A Friedl, May 21, 2020. Margaret was born March 28, 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the oldest of 3 siblings; sister Jeanne Kocisko and brother Michael Dernyar (deceased). After finishing her Catholic education, she completed Beautician school and began a career as a hair stylist in downtown Cleveland, OH. Along the way, she eventually met her husband of 58 years, Kenneth Friedl during a dance at Cleveland State University (formerly Fenn College). Margaret and Kenneth were married on August 11, 1962 at St. Catherine's Church in Cleveland, OH. Margaret and her husband had 3 sons; she raised them during the day and then would go to work at night when her husband returned home from his job. Margaret excelled at selling woman's clothing at various department stores including Gimbels, Horne's, Dillard's, Leggett's, and Belk. Margaret always enjoyed interacting with customers. In fact, she had many repeat customer over the years. Margaret achieved the prestigious Pacesetter Award from Dillard's for 10 straight years. During her career, Margaret generated over $10 million dollars in sales for various department stores. After retirement, Margaret and her husband traveled the world on cruise ships. Her favorite destination was Hawaii. Although she was a very private person, Margaret was the kindest and most compassionate person you'd ever meet; she always focused on the goodness in people. Her never-ending energy, upbeat personality, and smile were infectious. Margaret enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren but was also an avid gardener, was a stickler for organization and cleanliness, and was always punctual. Margaret is survived by her sister Jeanne Kocisko (Larry), sons, Ken Friedl (Mary Jo), Thomas Friedl (Charlene), and Robert Friedl; grandchildren, Kenny Friedl, Michael Friedl, Justin Friedl, Robert A. Friedl, Maggie Bowens, Desiree Silver, and Morrie Silver. A Memorial Mass will be offered at St. Bede Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 11:00AM. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Bede Catholic Church in Williamsburg.
