Horace E Shumate

Mr. Horace Eugene Shumate, age 85 of Bassett, Virginia passed away at Sovah Health of Martinsville-Henry County on Monday, December 28, 2020 after a brief illness. Mr. Shumate was born on February 13, 1935 in Rockingham County, North Carolina to the late Roy Shumate and the late Vernice Smith Shumate. He was also predeceased by his wife, Margaret Foley Shumate on April 22, 2020. He was retired from Bassett Furniture Company. Mr. Shumate is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Korzik (James) of Little River, S.C., Laresia Everett (Glenn) of Raleigh, N.C., one grandchild, Morgan Korzik. A Graveside will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 in Roselawn Burial Park.
