Obituary of William "Bilbo" Thomas Rogers
William Thomas “Bilbo” Rogers, 81, of Evansville, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021. He was born on March 21, 1939 in Indianapolis, IN, the oldest son of Mattie (Butler) and Albert Rogers. He retired as an iron worker and worked for Local Union 103 for many years. After retirement, he began Going Forward Barber and Beauty Salon. William was a graduate of Lincoln Clark Douglas High School’s Class of 1956. He was a faithful servant at Memorial Baptist Church. William enjoyed all sports and loved his family very much. William was preceded in death by his mother, Mattie Finn; father, Albert Rogers; step-mother, Effie Rogers; sisters, Betty Cook and Angela “Angel” Finn; first wife, Gloria McChristian; son, Rickey Boyer; and daughters, Celia Mae Brown and Gloria Winetta Boyer-Epps; and grandmother, Julia Shelton. He is survived by his wife, Doris Rogers; five sons, Michael Rogers (Denique), Anthony Rogers (Erika), Marvell Boyer, Richard Duncan, and Bart Duncan; daughter, Cher Adams (Curtis); brothers, Doug Rogers of New Jersey, and William Finn, III; brother-in-law, Gregory Duckett; seventeen grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and close friend, George Flowers, Sr. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Alexander East Chapel with Rev. Adrian M. Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
