Obituary of David Bernard Schreibfeder
David Bernard Schreibfeder, 77, of Richmond Virginia, died peacefully on May 8, 2021. He was born on June 22, 1943 in Martinsville, Virginia to Eva and Joseph Schreibfeder and attended Martinsville High School (Mavahi), where he was very active in a variety of activities, including football (go Bulldogs!) and track. David continued on to Hargrave Military Academy and received a football scholarship to attend the University of Richmond, where he was a member of the Honor Board and active in his fraternity, Phi Sigma Delta. He loved the Spiders throughout his life and was an avid season ticket holder, rarely missing a game. David and Suzy Schreibfeder married in 1966 at Temple Beth Ahabah and he adored his wife every day of their 55 year marriage. He had a passion for golf and the Brooklyn Dodgers and loved collecting baseball memorabilia. Signatures from the champion 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers and pictures with Cal Ripken were some of his prized possessions, which have since been donated. David had a successful career as an executive in the furniture industry that spanned decades. His gentle nature and kind smile put everyone who met him at ease. He always had a twinkle in his eye, could charm just about anyone, and was loved by all. David is survived by his loving wife Suzy Schreibfeder (nee Moss), daughters Lisa Schreibfeder (Kirk Braufman) from Los Angeles, CA, Rachel Forgang (Marc) from Gilbert, AZ and adoring grandchildren Marrah, Lily and Joe Forgang and Mia and Sam Braufman. He is also survived by his siblings Judd Schreibfeder, Susan Thomas and Bruce Schreibfeder. The family would like to thank the staff at Commonwealth Senior Living, especially those in the Memory Care unit, for their kindness and patience. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations in David’s name be made to Circle Center Adult Day Services or The Alzheimers Association of Richmond. There will be a graveside service on Thursday, May 13 at 1:00 pm at Hebrew Cemetery. The family will be greeting visitors that night at 7:00 pm at 10500 Red Maple Lane.
