Ellen M. Balsley

Ellen Lorene (McSpadden) Balsley, 97, of Stuarts Draft, went to be with her loved ones in heaven on July 17, 2021. Mrs. Balsley was born on January 5, 1924 in Bealeton, VA and was a daughter of the late William and Nellie Irene (Copenhaver) McSpadden. Ellen was a longtime member of the Stuarts Draft Baptist Church and was very active in the Stuarts Draft community for many years. On April 19, 1944, she married Robert Elwood “Bob” Balsley, who preceded her in death on February 26, 2003. Mrs. Balsley is survived by a son, Tim Balsley and wife Shirlee; a daughter, Judy Fox and husband Don; seven grandchildren, James Fox, Laura Fox, Thomas Fox, Tyler Fox, Brandon Dillard, Ashley Dillard, Whitney Dillard; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, special friends and loved ones. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Balsley was preceded in death by a daughter, Pam Beverage and a grandson, Seth Saunders. She was also the youngest of eight siblings, and the last surviving member of her family. A graveside service will be held on Thursday July 22, 2021 at 11 am at Calvary United Methodist Cemetery in Stuarts Draft, with Pastor Billy Coffey and Sue Haberlin officiating.
