Dean Brougher, 84, of Elizabethtown died Monday, May 11, 2020 after a brief illness.
Dean was born in Burnsville, Indiana on April 7, 1936, the only son of Glenn and Evelyn Brougher. On November 30 1958 he married Miriam Niemoeller of Columbus, and she survives.
Dean was a lifelong farmer, living on and farming the family property in Rockcreek Township. He was baptized at Burnsville United Methodist Church and a member there until the church’s closing. He served 8 years in the Air Force Reserve with the 434th Troop Carrier Wing stationed at Bakalar Air Force Base, Columbus Indiana.
Dean was a 50 year member of Hope Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite, entering the Masonic Rite at Elizabethtown where he served as Master in 1970.
Dean and Miriam have two children who also survive: Doug (Wendy) Brougher of Elizabethtown and Amy (Joshua) Brougher Milstein of New York City, and two grandchildren Maya and Ben Milstein.
A private family graveside service will be held Thursday at Garland Brook Cemetery with the Reverend Marcus Speer officiating. Hathaway~Myers Funeral Chapel of Columbus is assisting with the services. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.hathaway-myers.com.
