Delora J. "Dee" Mechling

Delora J. “Dee” Mechling, 82 of Huntington passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at Parkview Huntington Hospital. Dee was a 1956 graduate of Ossian High School. She had worked at Estey Piano Factory for 5 years, Triad-Utrad/Magnetek for 25 years and at United Technologies for 10 years. Dee made the best #1 cut out cookies and many other cookies. She also made the best fried chicken. She enjoyed listening to Elvis, The Statler Brothers and other singers. Dee enjoyed reading and circle word puzzle books. She was a fan of the Fort Wayne Komets, Chicago Cubs, and the Indiana Hoosiers during the Bobby Knight era. Dee was born on May 28, 1938 in Bluffton, the daughter of the late Dale R. and Nora E. (Maddux) Mechling, Sr. Survivors include four sisters: Lillian Mechling of Huntington; Nancy Mechling-Garringer of Markle; Gelene Garton of Bluffton; Myrtle Sallese of Johnstown, PA; 5 nieces, 11 nephews, several great and great-great nieces, nephews and many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Garnet Mechling, Carolyn Graves, a brother: Dale Mechling, Jr. and two nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2020 from 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. We will be following the CDC’s guidelines for Social Distancing and Social Gathering Limits, and the family asks that all visitors wear face coverings. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel. Interment will be at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Bluffton. Memorial donations can be made out to Parkview Huntington Hospice or American Diabetes Association both in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
