Juan Antonio Mendez Sr.

Mr. Juan Antonio Mendez Sr. Was born to Antonio Mendez and Jean (Jeanie) Bell on March 22, 1957 in Bronx, New York. His education started in Brooklyn, New York and later continued his education on Long Island, New York where graduated from Longwood High School After graduation he served in the United States Marine Corps (USMC); beginning his career overseas in Okinawa, Japan until he was honorably discharged in the early 1980's at Quantico, Virginia Juan Antonio Mendez Sr. later became employed with the D.C. Department of Corrections in Washington, D.C., where he served for over 32 years. As a dedicated Corrections Officer Juan Antonio Mendez Sr. Received many accomplished accolades and provided outstanding service to the city of D.C. and the greater Metropolitan area. Juan Antonio Mendez Sr. Was a devoted father and grandfather who was an avid motorcyclist. Juan enjoyed always being able to find something new and interesting to do with his family in the community and the surrounding area. He also appreciated listening to all types of music including his favorites Carlos Santana and Meshell Ndegeocello. Juan is survived by his wife Marcy Denise Mendez, three sons, Juan Antonio Mendez II. (Spouse:Kenya Mendez), Justin Edward Mendez, and Stephon Avery Mendez. Four granddaughters, Kéna Jenae Mendez, Leonna Sade Mendez, Lillian Sky Mendez, and Chalica Diana Easley. He is also survived by his sister Carlina Beverly as well as numerous cousins, a host of nieces and nephews , other relatives and countless friends. Mr. Mendez' visitation will be held from 6:00pm - 8:00pm on Tuesday, September 29 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford location. A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Quantico National Cemetery to honor his memory and peacefully lay him to rest. He is well loved and will truly be missed.
