Obituary of Erma Lou Ashley
Erma Lou Ashley Born June 18, 1932 in Oklahoma City, OK, Erma Lou went home to be with her Lord September 8, 2019. She lived in Amarillo most of her life. While working for Pantex, she started her own business with Mary Kay Cosmetics and became a director of sales. She was an active member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church and Washington Ave Christian Church. She loved people and loved telling stories because memories (things our hands cannot hold) are what our hearts hold on to. Her life conveyed how important people are, touching the lives of those she met. Always looking for the good in others and helping people who struggled, she often used one of her favorite expressions, “And this too shall pass.” She loved life but she longed for heaven. “Then I heard a voice from heaven say, ‘Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ‘Yes,’ says the Spirit, ‘they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.’” Rev. 14:13 Erma Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Ashley on November 7, 1995. She is survived by three children, Robert Bridges (Cindy) of Amarillo, Don Bridges (Janet) of Athens, and Kim Day of Amarillo, Texas, 7 grandchildren: Jeff, Chris, Chelsea, Tristyn Day (Sarah), Jordan Day (Ana), Elizabeth Bridges, and Sarah Bice (Brendan) and 2 great-grandchildren: Luca and Alina. Erma Lou was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
