She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Scootie was born March 10, 1928 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was married to William (Bill) Downer, her loving husband of 52 years, who preceded her in death. She was a talented cake decorator and seamstress. Her homemade cookies were coveted by many and could be smelled for blocks around. Scootie and Bill enjoyed many years of boating and camping at Glen Lake, Michigan. They travelled throughout the country in their 5th wheel camper enjoying scenery, family and friends. She was an avid sports fan, loved her Tigers and Michigan Football. Family was the center of her universe, from her oldest daughter to her youngest great-grandchild. She was the core of our universe as well, keeping everyone informed and connected, always knowing who was doing what, when and where. Need to check the weather or know the Tiger's score? we just had to call Scootie. She is survived by her eight children, Pam Scheiblauer, Linda Downer, Vicky Hulcher (Larry), Mary Himich, Bob Downer, Deb Keedy (John), John Downer (Ronnie), and Howard Downer (Elizabeth); 17 grandchildren, Donavan McDonald, Sean McDonald, Mike Caryl, Joey Caryl, Matt Hulcher, Elise Olszanowski, Michelle Peiffer, David Himich, Tom Himich, Shannon Downer, Steven Wasik, Robert Keedy, Margaret Keedy, John William Downer, Melissa Downer, Madison Downer and William Downer; 18 great-grandchildren, Bailey and Katie McDonald, Kody and Macy McDonald, Alex, Austin, Analeigh, and Addisyn Caryl, Fred and Clarice Caryl, Madeline and Adam Hulcher, Lainy and Landon Olszanowski, Brielle and Arianna Himich, and Ethan and William Himich.
