John Brown

John Robert Elwood Brown was born October 24, 1948 in the Mankota Hospital to Clint and Annie Brown. He passed away October 7, 2018 at the Prairie View Health Centre in Mankota. John attended school at Varsity, Alloa, Return, Kincaid, Mankota and Western Christian College in Weyburn, SK. He held various jobs. He sold Rawleigh and Amway products, ran a taxi service for local seniors. He was the ‘paper boy’ for many years; he would leave town very early in the morning to drive to Kincaid to collect the Leader Post and often had it delivered before 9:00 am. John was secretary for the Mankota Calvary United Church for many years. He enjoyed coffee time at Grasslands Inn, playing crib, reading, doing crossword puzzles and word searches. He loved bowling. He was sparing in the Senior League before he was actually old enough. (But nobody was supposed to know that). He was very proud of his thirty one years of sobriety. John was predeceased by his parents, Clint (1968), Annie (1997), his brothers Jimmy (1956), Danny (1977) and his sister Sandra (1975). He is survived by his sister Maggie and his cat Willie and numerous cousins. Celebration of John’s Life was held Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the Calvary United Church, Mankota, SK. Reverend Eunkyu Ji officiated. Lillian Klein was the organist. Interment followed in the Mankota Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, Sask Funeral Service was held Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Calvary United Church, Mankota, SK. Reverend Eunkyu Ji officiating. Organist was Lillian Klein. Interment in the Mankota Cemetery. Donations in John's memory may be made to the Prairie View Health Center Residents Fund.
